Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then located multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials state early analysis suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its source; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.
An important official stated the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
